Project Purpose: Monitor large owls in the buffer region of Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary
Owls are the nocturnal birds of prey and play a crucial role in maintaining the ecological balance. Our preliminary observation indicates a decline in the population of these species over the last ten years. In this project we will be focusing on three large owl species namely Spot-bellied Eagle Owl (Bubo nipalensis), Brown Fish Owl (Ketupa zeylonensis) and Brown Wood Owl (Strix leptogrammica).
